What are the Goals of the SIOP Institute?

1. To understand the research-based framework of the sheltered instruction approach for English language learners;
2. To become familiar with the eight components of effective sheltered instruction lessons;
3. To practice observing and evaluating sheltered instruction lessons;
4. To develop the skills and strategies for teaching teachers, coaches, administrators, and teacher educators to use the SIOP through professional development.
